Makes me think of a few months ago when my son asked for candy at the grocery store. I replied that "we choose how to spend our money because we can only spend it once. If we buy that candy, we don't have as much money to buy the other things we came to buy. Really, what's more important, buying chicken for dinner or a treat for right now?" His response, "The candy is more important." Oh to be 5 again!

I LOVE that. :) "We don't spend our money on that" is exactly how BF and I feel about a lot of expenditures when people try to pressure us to buy something.

Very true! Had he gone forward with the 'We can't afford it' argument, you'd better believe that girl would be piping up any time the dad spent money. Good thing he realized that before he finished getting the sentence out of his mouth!
