See the picture? Yes, that’s my backyard. I got the table and chairs for free this weekend from CVS. Yeah, for FREE! They had a coupon for a $25 gift card if you transfer over a prescription. So I transfered two. I wasn’t too excited about it since a $50 gift card to CVS is going to take me like a year to spend. But this weekend they had all their summer stuff on clearance at 75% off. I didn’t even know that CVS sold patio furniture. But they had a bunch set up outside and I spotted my new table and chair set from the parking lot. The table was $10 and the chairs were $7.50 each! So for $43 with tax I had me some new furniture. It was awesome. Of course I used my CVS extra care card for 2% cash back and my American Express for another 1% cash back. This is my first hustle that I’m really excited about.

But my summer time savings don’t stop there. Notice the gazebo in the picture? I got that on clearance at Lowe’s for $103 including tax. It was marked down something like 40% and then we got the floor model so they took off another 20%. Plus another 1% cash back on my credit card. Buying the floor model was kind of a pain since we had to pick it up the next day and then it wasn’t in a box. Just loose pieces and a baggie of nuts and bolts, no directions. But my husband was able to figure it out.

So all told I was able to replace everything in the backyard that needed replacing for only $103. Plus I still have $7 on my CVS gift card, and have $2.29 in cash back coming to me. Pretty neat!

Summer clearance time is my favorite shopping time in Phoenix. They clearance everything we are either still using, like flip flops and shorts, or stuff that we are about to use, like patio furniture and grills. It’s awesome. It would be like putting winter stuff on clearance in September in “normal” places. Our new table and chairs had a sticker on them that said “store under cover during winter”. That made us laugh.
