There is are reasons why the side by side is most reasonably priced. They are popular with builders who buy in bulk and that drops the price and sticker price concious people buy them because of that, but the most unreliable of all types - so in the long run they might cost you more in maintenance. The size is also inconvenient, most everyone i know who has one complains about storing things in them with such a narrow freezer - not an issue for us as we have a seperate deep freeze we use when we bulk buying meat, veg etc on sale and store it til we need it.

We just bought a french door fridge, even though it wasnt as cheap, but we did score a good deal. We needed a fridge as our new home didnt come with one and we rented before this place.
